Overview
Malarone is a combination tablet (atovaquone and proguanil) used to prevent malaria. It is generally well tolerated and only needs to be started shortly before travel and stopped a week after return, which suits shorter trips well.

Schedule
One tablet daily, starting 1–2 days before entering a malaria area, throughout, and for 7 days after leaving.

Most people tolerate it well. Mild stomach upset, headache or vivid dreams can occur.
